Mining Facility Found On Asteroid 433 Eros

Is it really a rock or could it be some sort of old mining machine? Because the space vehicle data collected by Eros in December 1998 suggests that it could contain 20 billion kilograms of aluminum and similar amounts of rare metals on Earth, such as gold and platinum … … it is not unlikely that such an object could be a mining machine which was used by an advanced alien civilization to extract all these precious metals. An asteroid is definitely going to hit the Earth, expert warns

Space is a dangerous place to be, and since the Earth is in space, every living thing on the planet is at risk of eventually feeling its wrath. Asteroids are the most clear and present threat that our Solar System poses to us, and you only need to look at the scars on the Earth, our moon, and other planets in our neighborhood to see exactly how real that danger is. Now, a Queen’s University Belfast researcher is warning that the Earth is definitely going to be hit, it’s just…

Huge ‘potentially hazardous’ asteroid hurtling towards Earth

A huge 1km-wide asteroid is hurtling towards Earth, prompting astronomers to label it “potentially hazardous”. But don’t pack for Mars just yet – the giant space rock, ‘2014 JO25’, is expected to pass by our planet safely. According to NASA the encounter on April 19 will be the closest the asteroid comes to Earth in 400 years, and no projected future encounters will be as close for at least another 480 years. However, another fly-by is expected in 2091 and the space rock also makes regular close approaches to Mercury…

An Asteroid With Explosive Power Of 3 Billion Atomic Bombs Barely Misses Earth!

Thank the gods that you’re alive today. No, we’re not being dramatic. Earlier this month, an asteroid with the explosive power of no less than three billion atomic bombs narrowly missed colliding with earth. The event is being compared to the one that led to the extinction of dinosaurs. via GIPHY China’s Purple Mountain Laboratory that first discovered the asteroid, has reported that on 5 September the asteroid was as close as 18.8 times the distance between the Earth and the moon, (4,491,320 miles). On paper, it’s a lot. In…

NASA plans to launch study of asteroid that could destroy Earth

NASA is planning to launch a probe to study an asteroid that could one day pulverize the Earth. The asteroid, named Bennu, crosses Earth’s orbit once every six years and has gotten ever closer since it was discovered in 1999, astronomers told the Sunday Times of London (paywall). In 2135, Bennu will fly between the moon and Earth — a hair’s breadth in space terms, the Times reported. That’s so close that gravity from the Earth could effect Bennu’s orbit, “potentially putting it on course for the Earth later that century,”…
